"This painting, "The Miraculous Healing of Godfrey of Buillon", which belongs to the series inspired by Torcuato Tasso's Jerusalem Liberated, must have been commissioned by Francisco de Benavides from Luca Giordano around 1690, i.e. during the period when the 9th Count of Santisteban held the viceroyalty in Naples (1688-1696) and two years before the Neapolitan painter left for Spain. The general state of conservation of the work was acceptable, although the alterations to the varnishes made it advisable to clean them, as well as to consolidate a later patch and improve the tensioning of the support, which are the three aspects that the intervention addressed".
