The XIX Duke of Medinaceli has died

The 19th Duke of Medinaceli, Don Marco von Hohenlohe y de Medina, passed away today, 19 August, after a long illness. Born on 8 March 1962, he was the son of Doña Ana de Medina y Fernández de Córdoba, IX Countess of Ofalia and XIII Marchioness of Navahermosa, and Prince Maximilian von Hohenlohe-Langenburg. In 1996 he married Doña Sandra Schmidt-Polex, with whom he had two children, Doña Victoria, the future Duchess of Medinaceli, and Don Alexander. Since the death of his mother in the spring of 2012, he has resided at the Casa de Pilatos in Seville. In September 2014 she succeeded her grandmother, the 18th Duchess of Medinaceli, Victoria Eugenia Fernández de Córdoba y Fernández de Henestrosa, who died on 18 August 2013. Patron of the Fundación Casa Ducal de Medinaceli, during the last years of his life he took a special interest in the history of this House, contributing to the description and cataloguing of its historical archive. Today at seven o'clock in the evening, a mass corpore insepulto will be celebrated in the chapel of the Casa de Pilatos and masses will be said in suffrage for his soul in the Pazo de Oca, in the Chapel of El Salvador in Úbeda and in the Basilica of Jesús de Medinaceli in Madrid.
