The Hospital de Tavera hosts the first three editions of the course during the month of July "Restoration of manuscript books with a high degree of deterioration". under the direction of the Dr. María Dolores Díaz de Miranda Macías, recognised expert and head of the Workshop-Laboratory for the Restoration of Graphic Documents at the Ducal House of Medinaceli Foundation.
The course has aroused a great deal of interest both in the field nationally and internationally. Professionals from various autonomous communities in Spain, as well as participants from countries such as Mexico, have come together to enjoy this subject. The dynamics of the course are designed to offer intensive and personalised training, limiting the groups to just five people per week. This methodology allows restorers, conservators and bookbinders to deepen their knowledge of the following subjects specialised knowledge which they will be able to apply in their respective fields of work.
Dr. Díaz de Miranda Macías has structured a programme that combines theoretical sessions with practical activities where it is worth mentioning some of them such as "Paper re-binding and consolidation. Preparation of adhesives" and "Binding and rebinding of books". The course takes place in three different editions: The first edition will be held from 1 July to 5 July, the second edition from 8 July to 12 July, and the third edition from 22 July to 26 July.
