Venus pudica caressing a dove.

Anonymous
16th century

Renaissance sculpture that was probably carved as a minor copy and complementary piece of the Venus pudica or Venus of the dolphin from the loggia of Caballerizas. A dove replaces, in possibly deliberate contrast, the dolphin of the original Roman piece. The presence of limestone inlays suggests that it may have been part of a fountain, although known inventories place it in its current location since the 18th century.
