Portrait of a young man with a beard from the Severa period.

Roman workshop
3rd century AD

Sculpture from the Severan period (ca. AD 215-220) in pure white marble, without veins. It is possible that the whole body was part of a single block and that the right arm and the upper part of the tunic are a later reconstruction from a later period. It depicts the figure of a bearded young man whose bust is decorated with a tunic that, when knotted at the shoulder, forms transverse folds and exposes the right shoulder and arm, which is cut off a little above the elbow. The knot of the tunic, the shoulder and the arm are of a different marble.
